Edward was a longtime resident of Zellwood, Florida. He was born June 18, 1935, in Holly Pond, Alabama.
Edward was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Apopka, Florida, where he served as Teacher and Co-Director of Adult Sunday School Classes as well as Deacon. He was a fun-loving person who enjoyed playing golf and RV-ing with family and friends.
Edward received his B.S. Degree in Education from Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama, and Master’s Degree in Supervision and Administration from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida. He enjoyed a longtime educational career of both instructional and supervisory positions— having spent most of his years in the Seminole County Public School System, Florida— before retiring in 1992.
Edward is survived by his college sweetheart and wife of 64 years-Nelda Kay Buckner; sons, Steve (Jamie) Buckner, and Phil (Marlene) Buckner; grandchildren, Caleb Buckner, Kristen (David) Schagren, Kiley Buckner, Brett Buckner, and Marissa Buckner; sister, Carolyn B. Whorton; and numerous extended family and friends.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Edward L. Sr. and Ruby Buckner, sister, Gwendolyn B. Goodson. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Trinity Baptist Church, Apopka, Florida. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
