Bruce Weldon Hartman age 92, of Deltona, Florida, formerly of Sanford, passed away August 17, 2023. He was born August 29, 1930 in Spokane, Washington, the son of the late Andreas J. and Edith Rose (Hughes) Kimes. Mr. Hartman served his country proudly with the United States Navy. Prior to his retirement he served as a missionary and teacher of God’s Word. One of his most treasured books in the Bible is the Book of John, where you will find these verses. John 1: 1- 4, “In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men."
He was no stranger to hardships, growing up in a broken family and caring for his little brothers. Adopted by George Hartman, his 5th father, at the age of 17, he took on the name Hartman and carried it proudly. In his early 20’s he came to believe in Jesus Christ to save him from his sin, and he again was adopted, by His Heavenly Father. At that point, he was a child of God, he was chosen, and part of a brand new family. God’s great love for Bruce led him to give his life to carrying the Good News to the jungles of Brazil. Together with his new bride, he boarded a ship and sailed to Brazil in 1959 where they would live and serve God for the next 40 years. Nothing brought tears to his eyes faster than when he talked about the love and faithfulness of God. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to so many.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy Jean Hartman, who is at the beautiful age of 90. Their children are Michael (Diane) Hartman, Daniel (Cindy) Hartman, Joel (Gwen) Hartman, Lowell Hartman, and Linda (John) Kislewski. Mr. Bruce Hartman is also survived by three brothers: Bernie (Kay) Hartman, Duane (Sandy) Hartman, and Dwight (Lorinda) Hartman. He has 13 grandchildren, Chad (Crystal) Hartman, Jodi (Ian) Beck, Holly (Christian) Locatell, Carly (Zach) Hale, Cody Hartman, Sarah (Levi) Rocke, David (Anna) Hartman, Natalie (Bob) Fleming, Ty (Emily) Kislewski, Kassi (Mikey) Bagnasco, Shaelyn (Tyler) Morgan, Reid (Mia) Kislewski, Jayni Kislewski. He is blessed beyond measure with 29 great grandchildren. We rejoice that he is at Home with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Face to face with Jesus!
